Product Info: Hen of the Woods (Grifola Frondosa or Maitake) is an annual mushroom which grows on hard woods in the Eastern regions of North America. This mushroom grows in a clustered mass. Cooked, it is delicious, with a light, pleasant taste and a pungent smell with a soft texture. Hen of the Woods mushrooms are white, curly shaped clusters with bluish black streaks of color. Suggested Use: The mild flavor of this mushroom makes it an ideal companion for smoked meats, poultry, fish, or rich sauces. With its firm texture, it substitutes easily for meat as a main dish.
