Matsutake, otherwise known as Pine Mushroom, is the most highly valued mushroom, when found in pristine condition. They are presented as high-status corporate gifts or wedding presents in Japan. The aroma is spicy, fruity and piny.

Their magnificently spicy aroma, similar to cinnamon, enhances wild mushroom dishes and make great stuffed mushrooms. They are high in protein, low in fat and rich in vitamins B1, B2, and D, and are believed to have many healthful properties.
